Knowledge and Source Quality

Knowledge quality is the biggest controllable factor in answer quality.

Where to manage

Use Dashboard → Knowledge.

Core actions:

  • upload files
  • import URLs
  • delete outdated content
  • refresh and review source state

Supported file types and size

The app supports common doc and text formats including pdf, doc, docx, pptx, txt, md, html, json, and common code/text formats.

Per-file upload size in the onboarding flow is currently limited to 10 MB.

Source quality rubric

Use this quick rubric before upload/import:

  • is this user-facing and current?
  • does it reflect current product behavior and plan terms?
  • does it contradict another source already in the assistant?
  • does it explain edge cases users often ask about?

If the answer to any item is “no,” fix the source before adding more volume.

Operating pattern that works

  1. Start with 5-20 high-value sources.
  2. Validate with test chat.
  3. Review Conversations for misses.
  4. Update or replace weak sources.
  5. Repeat weekly.

Common anti-patterns

  • bulk importing low-quality archives “just in case”
  • keeping old pricing/policy docs after releases
  • adding duplicate versions of the same page without cleanup

Permission behavior

If your role cannot upload/delete knowledge for an assistant, the UI shows a direct permission message so you can ask an admin for access.
