Add and Maintain Knowledge
Knowledge gives an assistant material to retrieve; it does not guarantee that
every answer is correct. You need knowledge.read to view sources,
knowledge.upload to add them, and knowledge.delete to remove them. Assistant
scope applies.
Supported sources
Upload files up to 10 MB with these extensions:
.pdf .doc .docx .pptx .txt .md .html .htm .json .tex
.c .cpp .cs .css .go .java .js .php .py .rb .sh .ts
You can also discover and import eligible public web URLs. URL ingestion stores retrievable content; it is distinct from a live browser or automatic site-wide truth system.
Add and verify a source
- Open Knowledge and select the assistant.
- Choose file upload or URL import.
- Review staged items and quota before submitting.
- Wait for each item to finish; retry only failed items.
- Confirm the source appears with its type and status.
- Open the assistant preview and ask a question explicitly answered by it.
- Compare the response with the source. Retrieval is evidence of availability, not proof of answer correctness.
Statuses include Current (fresh), Needs review (stale),
Check failed (error), Skipped, and Unknown.
Refresh and removal
Imported URLs can be accepted/refreshed when a freshness check marks them stale. The verified refresh route applies only to imported URL sources. Uploaded files must be replaced with a current file. Deletion removes knowledge from the selected assistant and is irreversible from the documentation UI; confirm the assistant and source first.
Troubleshoot safely
- Unsupported file: use an extension above and keep it under 10 MB.
- Upload/import failed: keep successful items, retry only failures, and record the displayed response.
- Source missing: confirm the selected assistant and scope, then reload.
- Needs review: inspect the current URL content before accepting an update.
- Answer ignores source: remove contradictions, ask a specific test question, and verify the content is actually present. Do not add duplicates merely to force retrieval.
Sol Helps can report bounded freshness states; it does not automatically detect every stale, misleading, or conflicting statement. Continue with Configure Assistants or Troubleshooting.
